Poison Ivy has been my nemesis. Over the years, I’ve had some really bad outbreaks from it. I know how to recognize the insidious plant and try really hard to avoid contact, but hardly a year passes without several rashes.
I’ve tried washing thoroughly with soap, and even with vinegar. I’ve tried Technu which is supposed to break down the urushiol. The problem is, it’s usually quite a few hours between exposure and when I’m able to wash or treat the area. Now I’ll try Zanfelâ„¢ and see if it works.
According to Paul Auerbach, M.D., Zanfelâ„¢ is a soap that is able to bind urushiol. It’s unique with respect to poison ivy remedies in that it is supposed to remove resin from the skin after the rash has appeared. Maybe it will give me time to get home for treatment, or even use it as a treatment with the first sign of a rash. I’m willing to give it a try.

If this stuff works we would love it. My husband gets it bad and we still have quite a bit of it at our camp in Black Lake.

My wife is very allergic to poison ivy. We started using Zanfel several years ago and found it works great. Even after the rash appears or days after exposure.
