In the fall of 2009 you’ll be able to walk across the Hudson River from the City of Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County to the Town of Lloyd in Ulster County over the 150 year-old Poughkeepsie Highland Railroad bridge. Work has begun to convert this old railroad bridge into a multi-use pathway and pedestrian park – the longest pedestrian bridge in the world! Just think of the spectacular Hudson valley views this will afford. The bridge will serve as a connector to an extensive network of rail trails on both sides of the river. Read more at the Walkway Over the Hudson web site.
