Dobbins Woods Preserve, owned by The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy, is located on Bly Hill Road in Ashville – 1 miles west of Route 394 (turn at Candle Escents).
The preserve occupies 94 acres on a ridge top overlooking Chautauqua Lake and is an important forested habitat that is home to a variety of species of birds and wildlife. The preserve contains two different kinds of forest habitats – the western 52 acres is a moist forest dominated by red maple, eastern hemlock and yellow birch, and the eastern 42 acres is composed of previously farmed land which now has the remnants of a tree plantation with red pine, Scots pine and larch, with hardwoods becoming dominant. There is a small wetland at the top of the ridge, out of which flows the headwaters of two Chautauqua Lake tributaries.
